He also served as a director for the Washington Rural Fire Association, to which he was appointed 9/22/2008.  He served in that capacity until the WCFPD was formerly established in 2016.

  • Darrel Barrett

    DIRECTOR

Has served as a Director/Board member since the inception of the WCFPD, 2016. He was first elected April 2016 to a 4 year term and then re-elected to a 6 year term, April 2020.  Darrel is a lifelong resident of the Washington area, and owns/manages a farming operation in the Campbellton area. He also served as a director for the Washington Rural Fire Association, to which he was appointed 9/08/01.  He served in that capacity until the WCFPD was formerly established in 2016.

When Jay was asked if he would serve on the WCFPD Board and as rural addressing chairman, he felt that it was a natural fit because of his years of experience as a volunteer firefighter and as the rural numbering chairman.  He also feels that it is a very good way for him to stay involved with an organization that is a great asset for the community of Washington.   Jay volunteers many hours managing route workers, handling citizen issues, and installing/maintaining emergency signs.  Jay is retired and resides in the southern part of the District.
