STATION 1
Station 1
The Washington Fire Department proudly opened its new Station 1, marking a significant investment in the future of public safety for the City of Washington and surrounding communities. Located at 2698 Phoenix Park Drive, the nearly 10,000 square foot facility was strategically built to improve emergency response capabilities for the growing southeastern area of the city.
The state of the art station features three drive through apparatus bays, modern living quarters, a kitchen and day room, four bunk rooms, a fitness area, a covered outdoor patio, an ICC 500 storm shelter, and a full building generator designed to ensure operational readiness during emergencies.
The project was made possible through a collaborative funding effort involving the City of Washington's half cent capital improvement tax, American Rescue Plan Act funding, and support from the Washington Community Fire Protection District. The station was designed by FGM Architects and constructed by Lawlor Corporation.
Along with the opening of the new station, the department also expanded and modernized its fleet operations. A new 2026 Pierce Enforcer Engine 8120 was placed into service at headquarters while Engine 8110 was relocated to the new Station 1.
The opening of Station 1 represents more than a new building. It symbolizes Washington's continued commitment to protecting its residents, supporting its firefighters, and preparing for future growth. The facility provides firefighters with a safer, healthier, and more efficient workspace while ensuring faster emergency response times for the community for decades to come.
